Chatting Books Online Day 84 ( I know it seems I skipped a day but actually when I transferred the past week to the blog site I realized I actually repeated a number once early this week so we are indeed (I think) at Day 84. Ok, so what am I recommending today? Today's recommendation rounding out the week of celebrating books related to The Walker Percy Weekend is Hillbilly Elegy by J.D.Vance. This book is subtitled: "A Memoir of a family and culture in crisis" and I know we can all relate to that right now. It is the story of J.D.Vance's family, it's trials, tribulations, failures and successes and the fight it took to get to any of it. The book is honest, frank, and harrowing but also hopeful and even at times humorous. A must read. But I am going to suggest something a bit different as well. While I of course have copies of the book for you to purchase available at the store (signed copies even), I have also listened to it on audiobook and there is something special about hearing it in the author's voice.
