Information for Authors:

For local authors who are interested in The Conundrum carrying their book(s):

Requirements:

  • Book content must be pertinent to our community

  • Book must be newly published, ideally we learn about it 2-4 months before publication

  • Book must be packaged properly. We look at price, writing and editing quality, cover design, binding, and the general quality of packaging. No spiral binding or blank spines will be accepted.  No paperback children’s books will be accepted.  All books must have an ISBN and a UPC code that can be scanned.

  • Due to limited space, we require consignments to be about the area or written by Louisiana or Mississippi based authors or authors with a strong tie to the local community

  • We suggest you schedule a signing or discussion event in conjunction with placement of your books in our shop. If we are not familiar with your books, chances are our customers are not either so this is a good way to introduce them to both our staff and customers. Non-Negotiable Purchasing Terms:

  • If your book’s publisher is someone we do not regularly work with, we will take the book on Consignment.

  • Consignment is a 60/40 split –

    • The Conundrum takes your book at a 40% discount. We pay you 60% of sales. We monitor sales daily and will contact you if we sell out. We will pay for the books sold before taking new stock.

    • The Conundrum will initially take 3 copies of the book and carry the book for a 3-month period. At the end of the consignment period, you may pick up any unsold books and any payment due. Any books left that are not picked up by the author 30 days after the end of the consignment period will be donated or destroyed .

    • The Conundrum will only pay for books that were sold. Damaged or stolen items are the sole financial responsibility of the consignor.

    • The Conundrum reports and pays all applicable sales tax.

Please note that we are not currently accepting consignment for paperback children's picture books.

After reviewing these guidelines, if you would like to submit your book for consideration, please submit the following information via email to Missy Couhig at missy@conundrumbooks.com

  • Author’s name with brief biography

  • Author location (city/state) and any book location setting or other ties to the local area

  • Title, ISBN, format (binding)  and brief summary

  • Publisher, publication date, price

  • Please also send or drop off a review copy of the book . Review copies become our property and will not be returned, nor will you be compensated for this copy as it will not be sold . If mailing a review copy please send it to : The Conundrum, P O Box 2925, St Francisville, LA 70775


    Please note that due to the high volume of inquiries that The Conundrum receives, we cannot accept phone calls or drop-ins related to book sales. All inquiries and submissions must be made via email.
